Fought in Revolutionary War on Virginia line 1781, Pension S3428. Josiah Grimmett was in the Revolutionary War for 6 months and 10 days during 1781. He fought with General Greene in North Carolina and South Carolina after the battle of Guilford Court House but was at Camden in April and May of 1781. He saw Washington's troops returning to Virginia after the Defeat of Cornwallis at Yorktown just before he mustered out in November 1781 at James Tavern, Virginia. His son William was a hero in the War of 1812 and fought with Andrew Jackson in New Orleans in 1814.
